    Media Centre...

... With Media Centre can you stream DVDs off a network drive?

I have a media server in my house and I am thinking of running Media Centre on my desktop - and then using my XBOX360 when it lands as an extender.

Of course it depends on the config of your media centre if it will play network drived DVDs..

I only have DVDs at their original size, since I know that XBOX360 won't work with other CoDECs such as DivX

From what I have read about the 360 it wont play any sort of writable media, origionals only, it will just reject the disks apparently. Its part of the anti piracy measures they have built into the console, they are trying to make it as difficult as possible for the hackers to be able to mod the console and do whatever they do to them.

I am not going to mod mine - thats the point.

XBOX 360 is a media extender as default - so it should be able to play DVDs over that

I want to know if it can play ones which have been copied to a HDD
