Ok guys I will be selling my PC soon but I would love to be able to save all my Firebird bookmarks and Thunderbird contacts to my external HDD which I am keeping for my new pc. How do I do this?

Bookmarks for Firefox are kept in Application Data (assuming you're on Windows). The path is something like this (might be slightly different - can't remember!): C:/Documents and Settings/Administrator/Application Data/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/sjfeiosnflsfn.default/bookmarks.html.
Just stick that back in a similar directory on a fresh install, and you're done!
