    Really Need Help: Recovery Console

Ok, was trying to recover a system (XP Home on a Dell Dimension 4500) and was following the steps Here and when I got to the point where I had to copy the system file from the repair directory it said it wasn't found.

I have tried everything, searched for things high and low on the internet, normaly I wouldn't have any problems throwing XP on there agin but this time thats out of the question, I need this fixed by morning and you guys really are my only hope

following those steps when I get to "copy C:\windows\repair\system C:\windows\system32\config\system" it says that C:\windows\repair\system cannot be found, it seems like this is all thats stoping me from loading windows.

Seriously, this is a man on his death bed begging, someone has to know how to help me.

Tried, not there. Got it working by copying it from a working machine but I have the same problem as before, it now just loads windows into safe mode (whether I chose it in the boot menu or Start Windows Normally) and it constantly restarts with an lsass.exe error.

Managed to get the work off it though so I guess its just a case of a fresh install of windows and reinstalling everything.

What about a "repair" install instead?

Tried a repair install, didn't work, same problem, tried a fresh install of windows and had major problems.

In the end I just did a complete format (not a quick one) and put XP Home back on the system, luckily I had a couple of programs to help me get to the data before I wiped it otherwise the guys work would have been lost.
