    Disk Imaging/Cloning Software

    Hey guys what program gets your vote for best imaging/cloning? I know Ghost is popular but I am unsure about them, I hate their anti-virus along with their system works bs. I've tried Acronis but I heard that you can't image a computer with SP2 with Acronis is that true? If so, can you image SP2 with Ghost?

    GHOST works well. It's the only piece of useful Symantec software.

    You should be able to pick up a fairly cheap GHOST v.9 PE @ PC World (around £30? or less) or somewhere now v.10 is out.

    I've used GHOST Enterprise (Corporate) v.7 or better at work to clone SP2 machines before, but I think older versions would work as well. IIRC GHOST PE just doesn't have the Network transfer options and Console. It's designed just for imaging your standalone machine.

    I've got Acronis True-Image and was hoping that would be ok for cloning my winblow$ partition. Is it not?

    Ghost would be my choice, I've used it many times for my cloning needs.

    I use True Image, and I wouldn't touch Ghost now since it's no more than a rebranded Drive Image Ghost used to be the best by miles..

    Can't stand the sluggishness of Ghost 9.0 and everything is a real chore (just booting off CD takes forever..). I think what really peed me off was not being able to make images when booting off CD.. sometimes you don't have/want the OS running when you're imaging.. True Image is smaller, cleaner and simpler to use IMHO.

    True Image is fantastic. I've not upgraded to v9 yet though.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    We use ghost and powerquest. Pretty much the same sort of thing.

    Symantec Ghost has saved my butt a couple times. I would strongly recommend backing the ghost image up to some removable media.
