    It depends what you want to do.. if you just want to ssh in (command line), under windows..
    use putty

    I use cygwin for x-windows (so you can see what you are doing on the server visually).

    Get the main setup file for Crygwin then install the following packages:
    *all of xorg-x11-??????? packages
    * openssh package

    more info at:
    http://cygwin.com

    When installed locate startxwin.bat from where you installed cygwin; open this and putty after. Using putty change your log in settings to the server that you are trying to log onto. Click OK, log in and then open a GUI program.

    'nedit' (assuming it is installed on your university computers) should be a simple and 'fast' program to open and test with.

    Don't forget to save the profile in putty unless you want to type in the settings everytime you open it.

    AND Starburn back to your usual self eh?

    Definately use Putty, I'm a noob but I use it to ssh and tunnel into a guy in torrontos box(with his permission of course) on a regular basis, its easy as pie.

    Cygwin scares me, so I open it, cry, and close that nasty lookin' console

    otherwise if you have a copy of linux installed, you could just use ssh server@location.xxx

    As you will not need cygwin to act as the GUI!

    Using this at work was fine but slow.....

    What do you mean. That's was because I had never drunk more than 1/2 pint before. All that's change so get £50 at least in your wallet next time we go out.
