Starting a mailing list, any ideas?

I'm just trying to sort out a mailing system for a university society, and I've got an Access database table full of email addresses. I've found a website, http://www.yourmailinglistprovider.com/, which seems to have the kind of thing I'm looking for, ie an online service that'll store the database and allow the committee of the society to access the list and send off reminders and newsletters. I was just wondering if anyone has used this service and could recommend it, or whether there is an alternative solution that might be better. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

You could set up a yahoo group and get everyone to subscribe to it. Whats the chance of you installing a linux machine with a mail server so you can do your own? Might be worht talking to your university societies rep as theyve probably come across it before

I talked to someone about a Yahoo group, I think it probably works out fairly similarly to yourmailinglistprovider's free service. I don't think setting up a server box to deal with the system would be the right choice to be honest, because it would cost too much, involve too much time on my part, and would be difficult to hand over to the next secretary at the end of the year! With an online system, it's simply a case of handing over the username and password, which sounds perfect for our usage.

Forgot to mention that bit! Our clubs and societies rep oversees things, but I'm not sure that she's as knowledgable on these things as the people within the societies who run things. I nicked the idea for using yourmailinglistprovider from the alternative music society!
