Bulletproof is pretty good - are you looking to FTP externally ?
The microsoft one isn't that bad but you have to set it up properly or you'll leave it open.
http://www.warftp.org/ is a classic.

tftp is the new black.... i mean ftp.

Whats the difference ( I know there is one )

it's simpler. mostly it's used for network booting of *nix boxes - send out the kernel via tftp, mount the file system from an nfs shareOriginally Posted by Moby-Dick
tftp does not require authentication so almost like constant anonymous access
does vsftp have a windows port ? can't see one on the site
It is Inevitable.....
Filezilla is about the best free one

They offer client and server options. I've used Bulletproof FTP server in the past as well and it's a good enough application although it's not free. The key feature in Bulletproof that Filezilla doesn't have is the ability to follow Windows shortcuts as directories, a feature I found useful to manage access levels for different user groups
Hmm
Got this setup - and trying to solve the passive mode issue.
Got the ports forwarded to the box (10000, 10500) and it still isn't working.
I can connect from a Unix box back in and see the directory listing but others can't
surely a passive mess?
Filezilla - Free
FlashFXP - Trial
In connection settings, set it so it only uses the otherone*, not passive. That cured all of my problems.
*distinct mental block from it being too early in the morning.

I'm using RaidenFTPd at the moment. I used Serv-U before. Raiden was optimized for high speed network, at 4MB/s Raiden used between 10-100 times less CPU time than Serv-U. And you got SSL, UTF8 and Mode Z as well.
