    Moving away from PHP Nuke

My site ukhdtv.net has just PHP Nuke for the last 5 months but I am getting tired on the layout and looks. I want to implement another CMS system but am not sure which one to use.

Does anyone know of any that are good? I did see http://www.typepad.com/ and it looks pretty cool.

If you can get it to do everything you want, Wordpress is probably your best bet

To be honest, it's a very nice site indeed - much better than most i've seen using PHPNuke ... I use Xoops myself, which isn't one of the better known ones - but it does have very good support, and is updated very regularly with security updates etc.

(Of course I may be a little biased being a forum Admin on the official Xoops site - and also involved in 3 coding teams for Xoops modules as well )

However, to be fair, it would depend if you wanted to import current data across - which is a bit fiddly to sort out (I know people who can probably help in this regards for Xoops)

http://www.cmsmatrix.org/ is quite a good site for CMS comparisons.... (I don't think it includes the latest releases - but should give you an idea)

Anyway PM me if I can help further ... (if my inbox isnt full again!)

I use Drupal CMS on my own server. Another php/mysql based solution. Think www.bryght.com does hosting for this cms. Its pretty good and has some good modules for additions.

i really don't see the problem looks wise? If its speed problems try switching to .net based system (could just use phlanger and run it all under IIS nice n fast!).
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)

Mambo has got a bit confusing since some kind of split and the dev team left and made
joomla which is the same thing or something like that.

Mambo is as good as dead.

Only look at Joomla now if you really must use this system - as the other has no core developers

It's nice and fast, just wanted to bring it in line with other websites in terms of looks.

I was browsing your site the other day and tbh i thought it was fine, its nice because it doesnt quite have that nuke feel that every other nuke website has - I can see why you would want to move away from nuke as when it comes to adding new sections it can be a pain.

Iam just wondering how easy it will be to implement a new system, i guess it cant be to hard as long as you can get the new system to work with the database thats already there so you keep your user accounts although having said that if you keep phpbb then there shouldnt be a problem.

If you wanted you could try and customize your version of nuke (thats if you want to get into the nity grity) or how about develop your own CMS as a little project to work on to pass those rainy days...

just doing som browsing for CMS's and found this site
    http://www.opensourcecms.com/index.p...141&Itemid=159
If you look under Portal(CMS) on the right theres quite a few portal systems, one that caught my eye was PHP-Fusion - looks abit similar to phpnuke so may not be a good choice if wanting to move away from nuke.

Any way hope you find something of use.

If you must go that way... avoid "mambo" go for Jamoola.... when I last looked at it - all the main coders had defected to Jamoola due to various issues with the Mambo owners...

Glad I don't use it myself
