    iTunes help - converting files

I have a whole load of files in itunes that I've put on my ipod. They're all in a folder on my PC

Trouble is they're all in AAC (think thats right) format.

I want to play these in Creative media player (for click reduction and suchlike). How would I go about converting them to mp3 or wmv?

    Thanks in advance

    transcoding kills audio quality dead

however, if you've recently suffered ear removal surgery, then try www.dbpoweramp.com

Transcoding is not always that bad. It depends on what format, what bitrate and the encoder you use. You can get some fairly good results, but it depends on what you plan to play them back on too. I use Foobar2000 for all my trancoding now. Check out it's brilliant 'Masstagger' componant too. Have a look on the Hydrogen Audio site and forums for the best ways to get the best quality results from trancoding.

But if you have the original CD's you would be far better off re-ripping them from scratch. If the tracks you have are bought from the itunes store they will have DRM protection. And thats a whole different ball game

On the other hand, stop using Creative media player (which is crap IMO) and get Foobar2000. You won't need to trancode them and its the best media player available (just as long as you don't need a stupid skinned interface). It will do everything Creative media player will do and more. What exactly do you mean by 'click reduction' BTW? Gapless playback?

No with Creative player you get click, hiss, noise and quite a few other tweaks that the Audigy series cards use. I've got some old bad quality audio files that I love and cherish and this makes them sound much better

I'll take a loko at Foobar: thanks

    That costs a fortune!

Anyhoo: I got Foobar2000 and it worked great. Converted the files easily and fairly quickly (considering there were 2000of 'em) while I was surfing/photoshopping. Gotta love having an X2
