    Directsound Error

Hi everyone, gone through my running processes and disabled some (Checked they were ok online first!) and restarted.

Now when i try and play a song through winamp i get 'Directsound Output v2.41 (d) error' in the title and the body is 'Bad Directsound driver. Please install proper drivers or elect another device in configuration. Error Code: 88780078'

Sound card is Creative X-Fi Extreme music which obviously has a ton of bloatware meaning i disabled some processes in msconfig.

In control panel, sound and audio, hardware tab, select sound card it says 'Windows cannot start this hardware device because ts configuration information (In the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cant live without music so any ideas greatly appreciated

Turn them all back on and disable them one ata atime until you find what is critical. Usually services starting with "ct" are from creative.

I have X-Fi Platinum anbd have the following services:

    CTDVDDET.exe
    ctfmon.exe
    CTHELPER.exe
    CTXFIHLP.exe
