    hidden windows

Got a weird fault on my laptop, running WXP SP2.

Every time I open any sort of window, be it My Computer, Task Manager, Firefox, Word, anything at all, nothing appears on the screen.

After much fiddling around, I actually realised that the windows were opening, but off the screen, to the left. So now, every time I open a window/app, i have to right click the program name on the task bar, select "move" and use the cursor keys to drag the window on to the screen.

Trouble is, this happens every time I do it with every program, even if i've resized the window on the screen.

I've checked the display properties to make sure it's not opened another screen on the PC, and it hasn't.

    Any ideas anyone?

Clutching at straws here, but have you got your display properties set for a dual monitor?

    Sounds like a virus.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

It's got AVG on it, set to automatic updates. Not checked for spyware though...
