    agressive memory/cpu testing tool (bootcd)

    Hello all,

recently a machine of mine has died, (cpu fan/hard disk).

I've just replaced all this and I'm in the middle of rebuilding.

I won't go into the in's and out's too much, however I'm getting a lot of errors that are leading me to believe there is a memory problem, under load - tied in with higher than tick over cpu.

I've got 3x512meg pc133 sticks (old box) , and I've tried running the build with 1 stick in, alternating between the 3, all with the same results.

I've ran memtest on all 3 in together and out on their own, with 3 complete passes for each test, all reporting no errors.

Is there something that is a bit more agressive than memtest, or gives a little better in regard to atually testing the ram, pref off a boot cd style format.

well done on on clearly not reading my post kempez815.

TheAnimus spent some time last night playing with the tools suggested by OID. Some varying levels of success.

One tool I did stumble across myself from my own achives was http://www.stresslinux.org its basiclly a small linux boot ISO that allows you to thrash to set levels your CPU and/or RAM - in later versions you can also thrash IO. This proved quite helpful in finding out what components where behaving well/bad under certain condititions, although it didn't give great output as to why they where failing, but to be honest, how much can you expect to get out of a system that works out if a component is failing or not.
