    Why didnt you lot tell me you cant go from XPSP2 to MCE2005 :S

    just proper bodged an xp install

    oh well, needs MCE putting on before me xbox arrives.

    Personnally I have found that trying to upgrade O/S's without doing a format reload gives more problems further down the line.

    Might be a quicker way to go in the short term, but it comes back to haunt you later

    MCE 05 is just based on XP Pro so you would have thought it would upgrade OK, but guess not...

    MCEo5 seems to have the MCE stuff separate on CD2, maybe theres an setup exe i missed on the cd. never mind, formatting is painless.

    Media Center Edition 2005.

    Its a slightly enhanced XP Pro, with some tools removed to make it more like XP home, even thou its all XP Pro.... If that makes sense.

    Its cheaper than XP pro too.
