Defragmenting Software

Hey all,

Jus did a fresh install of windows, i had a virus called...jolly something and avast couldn't do anything about it as it corrupted my c drive.

Anyway, what defragmenting software is good? i've been using Executive Software Diskeeper, and just wondering if there are any better alternatives?

I got on well with the O&O solution. $44 I think. I found it better than disk keeper

Too bad I only found out about myself, long after I'd already purchased Diskeeper

Have you been using the full version of Diskeeper? It has great scheduling features and it doesn't hog system resources. Nice utility to run in the background on a daily basis.

How often do people do defrags of their hard drives? I've got really forgetful lately but I try and do one a week.

maybe once every few months when I'm bored or have recently been installing and uninstalling lots of programs. My hard drives seem to stay relatively unfragmented for the most part...

Thanks for pointing out PerfectDisk on here. I was using Disk Keeper, tried the demo of PerfectDisk and boy are they not kidding about doing a better job of it

O&O Professinal. Site licensed at work so applies to my home PC aswell

I use O&O Pro, seams to work fine for what i use it for.

Also, i was wondering if there a defrag program that an put the files down grouped in there respective folders. (a bit like O&O can do them in order of name/modifyed/access)
- Just for my iRiver, becuase i bascaly always play though a whole folder, in order.

O&Os scheduling is useful too. you can set it up to defrag every night, after you go to bed, so it doesn't get in the way, or when you're at work, or run it in the background (doesn't seem to chew up too much in teh way of resources when in stealth mode)
