    DVD Decoding Software.

What DVD Decoding software do you use to decode DVD's on your PC's ?

I use the new Nvidia purevideo decoder and found it to be much better than the cyberlink software I used to use. Images are a lot better on the DVD's due to the "purevideo" capabilities of my 6800GT's, and the sounds better as well for some strange reason .

So Hexites - what software do you use?

I'll have to pick your brains on the Purevideo stuff later ....

The NV DVD has been great for me for a long while

I have used WinDVD and PowerDVD (still use WinDVD sometimes). Mostly, I use Windows Media Player 10.

I thought it was a load of tripe (purevideo) but I tried NV DVD and it was noticably better than what I used before (PowerDVD)

As such, it's now NV DVD that I use

Me too, does the job spot on, and decodes to sp/dif for my 5.1/DTS system.

I was getting weird artifacts with Media Player Classic, but they seem to be resolved with VLC.

I still haven't found a stable configuration for MCE2k5. The nVidia decoder hangs about an hour into playback, WinDVD I can't remember the problem but it wasn't good, and PowerDVD stutters fairly regularly but at least it manages to play an entire DVD without dying in some horrible fashion.

I guess that's what I get for trying MCE on cobbled together kit although the GFX card is an FX5700 so I expected the nVidia decoder to work reliably. The quality was exceptional when it worked though.

Another vote for Nvidia PureVideo Decoder. I use it in my HTPC which has a fanless Gigabyte 6600 PCI Express (bought from Scan of course!). I also use Imedian sofware from Soundgraph. It can use the nvidia DVD Decoder in it so I no longer need MCE2005 as a front end
