    TotalCopy alternative?

Right, so I'm sick and tired of TotalCopy, that rubbish piece of software that doesn't even have code to prevent divide-by-zero errors. So I'm looking for something that does a similar job, ie. has right-click-drag-release functionality, but more importantly, that doesn't crash half the time. Any suggestions? (Aside from changing my file manager to Total Commander, etc. Yes, people have suggested this. No, it's not an option. )

Hi, eldren! Sorry no one's replied to your thread so far. Have you tried CopyHandler yet? The UI is rather lame, but it has some nice features. On a tangent, this thread is currently result #9 on a certain search engine for the phrase "totalcopy"

Yes, I'm talking to myself. No, I'm not insane.

Hi, again! I've been using CopyHandler for a week or so now, and I must say, I really do like it. I have two issues with it, though.

Firstly, if you copy files to a directory more than once (Ie. to make sure you got everything the first time), it prompts you for each file. Granted, TotalCopy's "Same name, size and time = skip it" approach isn't accurate, but it'd be nice to have an option somewhere as to which mode to use.

Secondly, and more seriously, if you are moving files to a directory, and a file with the same name already exists at the destination, it'll prompt you if you want to replace it or ignore it. Clicking ignore deletes the source file. Lost quite a few files before I realized what was going on.

These caveats aside, it's still a great copy program, with insufficient disk space prompts before the copy starts, queued copies, and other such niceities.

This isn't exactly what if you can get hold of it I'd suggest taking a look at Microsoft robocopy (from the Windows resource kit). It's a command line tool but I find it very useful for moving entire folder structures between file servers, especially where the network link may be a little flakey so retries may be required.
