    Are YOU 1.5?

The Mozilla Firefox team have officially launched Firefox 1.5 as stable which is now available for download. Most of the more popular extensions have already been made 1.5 compatible and those that are not will no doubt appear shortly. Actually I found a number of 1.5 versions on their respective authors websites, so just because the Firefox extensions page says it doesn't work don't give up!

    Get Firefox 1.5

Release notes are here; main points:
    * Automated update to streamline product upgrades. Notification of an update is more prominent, and updates to Firefox may now be half a megabyte or smaller. Updating extensions has also improved.
    * Faster browser navigation with improvements to back and forward button performance.
    * Drag and drop reordering for browser tabs.
    * Improvements to popup blocking.
    * Clear Private Data feature provides an easy way to quickly remove personal data through a menu item or keyboard shortcut.
    * Answers.com is added to the search engine list.
    * Improvements to product usability including descriptive error pages, redesigned options menu, RSS discovery, and "Safe Mode" experience.
    * Better accessibility including support for DHTML accessibility and assistive technologies such as the Window-Eyes 5.5 beta screen reader for Microsoft Windows. Screen readers read aloud all available information in applications and documents or show the information on a Braille display, enabling blind and visually impaired users to use equivalent software functionality as their sighted peers.
    * Report a broken Web site wizard to report Web sites that are not working in Firefox.
    * Better support for Mac OS X (10.2 and greater) including profile migration from Safari and Mac Internet Explorer.
    * New support for Web Standards including SVG, CSS 2 and CSS 3, and JavaScript 1.6.

I was using 1.5 beta and my search engines wouldn't work - i dl and installed 1.5 and now they all work.

All my extensions worked fine first time with the in build update function once 1.5 was installed. It went seemlessly inc all themes, pluggins etc.

The only one I couldn't get to work straight away was tab extensions but I fixed that by changing the xpi file thus

FF extensions have an RDF file (which is accessed by opening the xpi file with winrar then opening the rdf file with notepad or equivalent) which holds the code for the extension. In this file there is the FF version number which needs to be changed to 1.5 (see bold type) and the globally unique identifier (GUID) (again bold type). Sometimes the GUID needs to be changed to make the extension work. GUID can be got from a number of generators. e.g.

Installed it here and it has all my plugins and bookmarks as they were. I guess it's 'luck of the draw' if it works that way or not.

Hi, can this broswer do mouse strokes? If not, which one does?

Reason I'm asking is I have seen someone use mouse strokes in a internet broswer to navigate around and it seems to be a cool feature.

opera has mouse strokes in it

firefox has very little in it by default - features (like mouse strokes) are added by extensions from addons.mozilla.org
