Disk Imaging
After accidentally wiping over my XP partition, including my Championship Manager saved game , with 2K when trying to make an image of 2K I thought I’d ask here which disk imaging software you would recommend me. From reading previous posts the three favorites seem to be Norton Ghost, Powerquest Drive Image and Acronis True Image. Now these all costs money so if I was to buy one of these I’d have to be sure it was the best one. Do these programs offer trials so I could try each out? Are there any freeware programs that do a similar job? All I really want is a program to make an exact image of my clean 2K installation onto CDs, which I can reinstall from and thus save hours.
Thanks, Anders.

Ouch. It’s my own fault for not reading what the software did properly. I assumed it would make an image file in the free space on an HD that I could split up and burn onto CDs. However the software actually does an exact copy of the contents of one partition over another partition. Just one little message saying this will destroy all data on the partition before going ahead was all that it needed. It’s a good job that there wasn’t enough free space on my “storage” HD because that has 30 GB of downloads etc on.

i did the same - except i clicked "ok" instead of cancel, and backed up a 1.44mb floppy disk image over my 65gb data pertition...

TrueImage Deluxe was given away free with PCPlus about 6-7 months ago if you want to hunt for a back copy. It does what you are after. I'm just to god dam lazy to use it myself, even though I genuinely intended too :(

which version of Norton Ghost can be used to backup Window 2000 or window XP? I don't want to spend much time to reinstall window 2000.
