i want a piece of software that i can password files of my choice, are there such programs? does any one have any idea?
I add them to a rar or zip file with a password on them.
Note. Rar file passwords cannot be easily retieved.
Woohoo now Assistant Manager!
That method works fine for small text files and the like but as soon as you have wait longer than an instance for the fils to unzip it becomes annoying. Good tip though.Originally Posted by Workaholic
Would be interested in a program that does this too...

Something like this? http://www.softstack.com/hff.html
Blowfish Advanced CS is good - also get wipe functionality. Check it out at http://www.lassekolb.info/bfacs.htm or google for BFACS.
I would recommend against this tool as it could give a false sense of security.Originally Posted by toolsong
It is half way towards a rootkit - hiding files & folders from the Windows API, controlled through a kernel-mode driver.
Rootkit Revealer shows you the files & folders as discrepancies.
If you happen to have a process accessing a hidden folder and then enable the lock, the files contained within the folder are still accessible.
But worst of all, booting from another OS reveals the files, completely accessible as the driver isn't loaded.
You are much better off encrypting the files on the disk rather than trying to hide them - either with Windows EFS, PGP, a password-protected zip file or some other method.
