Just curious as I know these are popular...
Has anyone had 100% complete success at 1920x1200 under linux? If so, can you pm a copy of your xorg.conf please

no problem.
If your having problems, its more likley to do with your drivers version/compatibiliy with xorg/xfree86.
Can you give me a little info on what card/driver/X versions your using, and maybe even the distro
Config coming tonight when I get home.
It is Inevitable.....
Any update on what your using, so I can put a config together for you ?

sorry Ikonia! Internet was down Tuesday night for the first time ever, (not bad for 4+ years with eclipse!) and I was stuck at work until after 9pm last night.
I have an asus 6600 (non GT) the drivers from the nvidia site 767 off the top of my head and i'm running debian at the moment. I have to admit, i'm distro hopping at the moment, and am trying to find one to settle with. I would be using the version of X that came with debian, not sure which it is though.
I did spot what may be the prob though, I apparently need to set refresh to exactly 60Hz ie "1920x1200_60" which I hadn't done for the highest two resolutions.

let me know how you get on, and if you still want the file
if you are using the "unusual" resolution in wide screen monitors I do find your monitor definitions vsync etc has to be spot on, also you may want to look at removing the lower "supported" options from your x config. On the monitors with higher resolutions X sometimes chooses the easiest to support (1024x786 for example) so if you remove it so it only has the option of 1920x1200 / 24 bit and your definitions are spot on - then you normally won' have a problem.
let me know how you get on and if you want me to set this up and give you a config.

Thanks!! Going through a bit of a shuffle at the moment, so I may wait for a complete reinstall - need a new HD with some space...

Seeing how this thread comes up third when you type in '2405fpw linux' into google, I thought i'd better update it! Its working, seems to be fine, just sorting... other things now!
So, here are the relevant pasrts of my xorg.conf:
Section "Monitor"
DisplaySize 520 330
Identifier "Monitor[0]"
VendorName "DELL"
ModelName "DELL 2405FPW"
HorizSync 30-81
VertRefresh 56-76
Option "DPMS"
Modeline "1920x1200_60.00" 154 1920 1968 2000 2080 1200 1203 1209 1235 +HSync -VSync
Modeline "1680x1050_60.00" 147.14 1680 1784 1968 2256 1050 1051 1054 1087 -HSync +Vsync
EndSection
Section "Screen"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Viewport 0 0
Depth 24
Modes "1920x1200_60.00" "1680x1050_60.00"
EndSubSection
Device "Videocard0"

Monitor "Monitor[0]"
EndSection
Hope that helps someone.

i'd recommend ensuring your "Modes" line includes more normal things like 1024x768 and 1600x1200 - some games may fail to load if the resolutions are missing
Good point! I'll add those in when I get home - was pretty happy about getting it working to be honest, was getting a tad annoying. May have a minor delay though, D&D online have a stress test until the weekend...
