Hey,
I'm about to install something on a server at work running fedora core. I want to make sure I get the best package possible so am wondering...
how do I find out which fedora core is running?

Linux hidden.hidden.COM 2.4.22-1.2199.nptl #1 Wed Aug 4 12:25:07 EDT 2004 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux
what part of the above tells me?
Technically none of it (which is surprising, I'd have said the same as alexkoon), but kernel 2.4.22 would date it to probably Fedora Core 1.
cat /etc/fedora-release shows the fedora release version
uname -a shows the kernel version (although I'm concerned why your hostname contains the .com style address, the name displayed there should just be a "name" not a FQD)
rpm -qa will list all packages and their versions.
It is Inevitable.....
its fedora1, thanks yall![]()
