    Question Free TV Card Software

Can anyone recommend some free TV card software please?

I'm currently using DVB plus which came with my TV card, but its EPG is really rubbish, and it doesn't seem to work at all on my second monitor. There are a few other minor issues too...

I've tried a program called Media Portal, and although it has everything that I was and looks VERY good (a free MCE), it seems to use up loads of system resources, so it takes a while to access the menus, and I can't do something whilst watching TV.

The software must have a decent EPG for digital TV and it must be able to record and view TV. I'd also like a timeshift function.

    Anyone got any other suggestions?

That's how I found out about Media Portal. I've either looked at or actually tried all of the free PVR/DVR applications it mentions. The ones I've tried either don't work with my card, or don't have the features I'm looking for. The best one I've found so far in terms of features is Media Portal, but that slows my PC down no end, so the one I think is 'best' the one that case with my card. Although the features aren't that great - it works. Am I right when I say the TV viewing applications don't capture TV - it's only the PVR ones that do?

Has anyone actually tried some software that they can recommend?

TV viewing application usually let you record TV, but they are not so hot at the EPG, scheduling, time shifting or interface.

I'd also be happy just knowing how to fix my current software no liking dual monitors. The program is called DVTR, and I haven't found anything about it not liking dual monitor on the internet at all. Infact, there's hardley any information on it at all. Therefore I'm thinking that it's something wrong with my machine.

Basically, whenever I move the window from my primary desktop to the secondary, the screen goes black and playback stops. Both monitors are connected via the same graphics card - one on VGA, one on DVI.

    Thanks .

not sure, i don't know that one. you got a link for it?

have you contacted the developers about it?

THe first thing that springs to mind though is that it is using ideo overlays to display the video and the second output of the card does not support this display mode. I hvae no idea if this is a problem with your GeForce. Perhaps you should contact nVidea? or start another thread in the hardware forum.
