installing windows xp 64bit - tearing my hair out.

    I install xp 64bit

It boots - no network card driver so I put in the cd which came with my motherboard (abit k8n ultra)

I install the 64bit drivers for my motherboard.

    I reboot.

    bluescreen at startup.

Is there some order I should be approaching this in ?

tried that - it boots into safe mode perfectly, but I still can't get onto the net.

Unhelpful advice; Who cares about XP64? Waste of time and effort. Wait for vista to arrive. Hardware vendors will actually give a crap then.

Slightly more helpful advice; What BIOS version does your AN8 have? They have all sorts of BIOS issues. Might not help, but try updating that. I remember reading about some issues on thier forums which might have been related to your problems. But XP64 driver support in very poor.

aha, managed to get around it.

I installed only the network driver - it immediately crashed, I rebooted into safe mode, uninstalled the driver, rebooted normaly, re-installed the driver when it refound the network adapter.. and it works fine now.
