    XP load times

    Hi all,

Hopfully someone can help me with this:

I'm using XP Pro 64bit and have noticed OS load times differ quite considerably, for no apparent reason. For example, sometimes I boot up and the XP logo is displayed for about 10 seconds, if that, before changing to the logon screen. Other times it takes over a minute.

Has anyone experienced this behaviour or know of a solution?

    Many thanks,
    Simon

If you properly shutdown it will boot up very fast next time. But if you didn't shutdown properly / crashed it will take more time to boot.

    Thanks for the reply.

I've only had applications crash on me at the moment, (particularly IE and Far Cry but that's for another time), rather than the whole OS. Shutdowns seem to be fine. Cold the apps still cause probs on shutdown?
