I use perfectDisk, it takes a while to get through and defrag the drive but it does a good job of it. Have to pay for it though, used to use DisK Keeper before that and was suprised at how much it missed compared with PerfectDisk.
I use diskeeper lite its alot quicker that windows defrag and works well. Its also a free download.
Is there any real advantage over the Windows one?
Diskeeper lite is way faster than windows defrag less than 5 mins against more than 30 min.
I can defrag when it not in use or at night. Anyother reasons?
Not really, I have never noticed any gains and I've used pretty much all of the aforementioned.Originally Posted by dangerous_dom
I suppose it depends if you like all your free space consolidated or not. The built-in windows one doesn't exactly do a great job of this.
Also if you want to defrag your registry or swap-file, then this is a no-go with the built-in defragger - if you're looking for a free utility to do this, try PageDefrag.
Diskeeper here, versions 8 & 9 - way happy. Used to be Speedisk, but it be a long time since I tainted my machines with anything Norton-based

I use perfect disk on my server and it takes 8 days to defrag my 600GB RAID5 volume on 3ware card. Diskkeeper/Windows defragged, but the disk got fragmented again easily. O&O just keep crashing in the server. Think its kind of unstable despite having ECC+REG memory.Originally Posted by teachmech
At home I use perfect disk for my overclocked rig and O&O for the non-overclocked rig, just because I feel that O&O do the job a bit slightly better, but it keep giving me data corruption when my memory is not stable enough.
