    Installing printer on linux

Before we start, if you dont want to help DONT POST

Im trying to install CUPS so i can install the driver for my Epson R300 on Unbuntu.

However if i try and open configure in terminal likes it says it says it cant find it, even though it IS there. If I open it and select run in terminal then this flashes for about 1 second then terminal closes.

What am i doing wrong - and yes i am a linux noob and if i cant install this without reading a huge book on how to work linux then i will have to go back to windows.

    Thanks

You need a C compiler, as the message says.

Try "sudo aptitude install build-essential" in a terminal.

However, are you *sure* that there's no driver already included? Check the Printers bit of System/Administration, try adding the printer from there.
