    XP hanging when switching users

We've been switching users quite happily since having this PC, however now for some reason when we select the user to use, we get a black screen and a mouse cursor. This cursor is still movable but neither the mouse buttons nor the keyboard have any effect.
All we can do is a hard reset.

The only way round this at the moment is to log off one user before logging in to another. This works fine.

A couple of things I've done recently is install ZoneLabs Security Suite and then uninstalling it because it caused a lot of applications to go slow and messed up our broadband internet connection. I've also installed the microsoft intellisoft mouse upgrade to utilise the scroll wheel's button & horizontal push facility.

    Any suggestions?

System restore might be the easyest way.

When a firewall makes applications "go slow" its generally not a healthy sign. Most firewalls use a specail kind of driver called an NDIS filter to perform their black art, now, this might caus an application to say hang if its not allowed to access the net, but slowing down shouldn't occur.
