    DMI Pool Data

I am getting a "Verifying DMI Pool Data" message after my BIOS loads that takes about 40 seconds before clearing and Windows (Me) loading.

All of the sources I have looked at about this relate to this problem hanging the computer not just taking a long time to start loading Windows. Does anyone have any suggestions as to whether this is normal or if I can speed it up a bit.

    Thanks

do you have a SCSI controller of some sort in your system, or a defective (e.g. cable upside down) IDE or floppy drive?

I have one IDE hard drive (using a SATA converter), one floppy drive and one DVD-ROM drive. Everything seems to be working okay so I wold imagine there are no probs with the connections.

Investigating further, it appears that I did not have "Starting Windows Millennium" appearing. Now that I have, it is obvious that it is Windows that is taking a long time to start.

Using a bootlog analyser I have now found out that it is taking 30 seconds while "enumerating Tape Detection". This is an old tape drive that I used to have. However, I am having difficulty removing all traces from the registry. Any ideas?

    More information now:

I have solved the slow startup problem with Windows ME by identifying (using LogBoot Analyser) that some tape driver vxd's were in the way. I have renamed those now but the problem has moved to my floppy and audio:

    Can anyone help me please.
