    Ubuntu + ATi Drivers

    Hi folks,

I've been trying to get ATi Drivers installed on my fresh Ubuntu installation but, its nae playin ball.Downloaded setup from ATi's site - called ati-driver-installer-8.23.7-i386.run and followed the instructions Here to try and get it running, but I get a message saying "An error has occured" during the install.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me? (Bear in mind this is my first go with linux, just trying to see if I like it or not)

    Cheers,
    David

    Edit; Hopefully another easy one

How do I get onto my C: Partition so I can play music from it - i'm correct in thinkin Linux can read NTFS right?

    as root, type the following:
    Code:
    # mount -t ntfs /dev/hdaX /mnt/cdir
Where hdaX is your NTFS partition, and /mnt/cdir is an example, you can mount it anywhere in your filesystem you wish.. you'll only be able to read off an NTFS partition, write support is currently highly unstable so it's left disabled in most distros.

Cool, time to hijack my own thread a bit here:

Got Ubuntu installed and GRUB has my Ubuntu and WinXP installs listed at the boot menu, but when I select the WinXP one, I get to the splash screen fading in and get a STOP 0x0000007B error - my research indicates that its indicates a boot sector virus, but im sure im clean.

I booted from UBCD and used a utility there to create a new MBR and now windows will boot, but I aint a boot menu to select Ubuntu from!

    Cheers,
    David
