    Creating Recovery CD/DVDs

I phoned microsoft to get XP activated as its an OEM which is tied into an HP
machine. The mobo blew and I replaced it but of course the recovery CD doesnt
    work.

Now I have installed XP and got it activated over the phone and its all updated nicely.

So to save hastle later I thought I would create a recovery CD.

What programs are out there? is there any where you can just save the image of
say C and then the DVD which is created is self booting?

I have been looking at ghost 10 and it seems you need a recovery CD and the image
CD to do it which is just crap.

    Any advice?

Have a look at Acronis True Image. I've actually not used my copy, got it in a pack with Disk Director, which is great.

I just tried one version of acronis true image 9.1 workstation i think.

You boot a CD and you create an image from there which is good enough.
But you cant write to DVDs. I dont know which one is worth getting.

How do these companies make them they boot themselves as far as i can tell
why cant i have a program that does that. I dont need all this network stuff
I just need to be able to create a back up dvd. ahhhhhh
