How do I remove programs safely

Can anyone tell me how to remove a program that does not appear in the Add or Remove Programs in Windows XP control panel.

My son has downloaded a crappy game and it does not have an uninstall file.

No unfortunately not.

Can I just delete the files?

quite often - if its osmethign basic then it ulikely to have much in the way of a regist5ry entry
why not try moving the files first
then if something else breaks then you can move them back

Whats the game? generally if it really old or quite simple then the game does'nt make any changes to the registry in which case you can just delete it .....most modern games (however carp) shove something in the registry though.
