    Protecting Files

A slightly vague title but that's pretty much what it is. My lappy is going for repair and this is what they requested in terms of passwords:

I presume they want me to remove the password on the Admin account and the two other user accounts I have, but frankly I don't want a whole load of people at the centre gathering around looking at my stuff or what apps I have. I don't however want to delete everything and then recover it. So is there anything I can put on to ask for a password on entry to my docs (on seperate partition) or something. Also I don't have the evil picture logon so will they use one of the Windows hidden support logons, otherwise they won't neccesarily know my username? So basically I'm a bit confused about what to do (I easily get confused )!

perhaps this is one of the draw backs of using illegal software, if everythings licensed what does it matter if they look at what apps you have / don't have.

I assume they will want the administrator account password or want you to create an administrator account for them, which seems protecting your files a little pointless as you will need to give the administrator rights.

You can protect things like excel spread sheets but they used to be crack able, however I'm sure the technicians won't be bothered looking at your files, the only thing they would report would be child porn or illegal software.
    It is Inevitable.....

I'm primarily getting paranoid about some v. large C# jobs I've got on there... might remove them (and the recovery software!). Righto, thanks... shall I take off saved passwords?
