    verclsid.exe breaks my PC

I just got a bunch of updates from MS which has installed the above in the system boot - a google search reveals it has to do with ActiveX control auth. Now when my PC boots Windows tells me that my Active Desktop went skrewy so it tranquilised it and now would i like to reenable it. To do this i have to right click on my desktop and go to properties, etc, etc to reactivate it. Fair enough, if i had EVER used or wanted to use Active Desktop.

Besides from being annoying as hell, this constant prompting is not the worst of it. Right click has stopped bloody working, the first right click freezes the desktop, the second right click freezes the whole PC except the Task Manager.

If i end the verclsid.exe process it all comes back perfectly. The verclsid exe is not using any processor but the whole thing stops, any ideas? I cant report to MS as i dont have the *cough* relevant papers.

You need to install this "critical" update, as it is the source of the problem:

    http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms06-015.mspx

It was well documented over at PcPer forums.

i have been over to PcPer and cannot seem to find anything accept someone deciding to give up and install Win2K. All the links on the site go to the file scrandman referenced here, which is the install for the update. I know i could uninstall it but that is not really a good solution as it will leave the PC open to attack.
