AFAIK there are different versions of Works.
The cheap bundles are like a peasant's version of Office, with apps that are about as cross-compatible as DDR RAM is with a Pentium MMX.
Somebody is bound to have more info on how Works breaks down compared to Office, however.
the cost - works is cheaper
the ui - works sucks
interoperability - last i checked, works would refuse to touch msoffice formats
features - works misses some things that you may like to do, though the very basics are there
if you're on a budget, consider openoffice.org - the ui is closer to that of msoffice, interoperability is far superior, it's free, and the featured sifferences between OOo and office may be preferable to those between works & office
Works does a lot of the functions that Office does, such as spreadsheets and word processing, but they have very few features compaired to the full blown versions in Office.

this URL shows the main differences between the standard Works 8 and Works Suite 2006. Couldn't find anything that compaires works directly with Office
as Directhex said , if cost is an issue , then I'd choose OpenOffice every time - its probably more compatilbe with office than works![]()

Ok guys - many thanks for those answers - provided me with some more ammo![]()
