    Virus help!! Mytob??

My Pc is going crazy, alerts keep popping up saying I may be infected with the Mytob virus.

It directs me to this site http://@http://www.amaena.com/securi...mwav1&lid=s322 (which tells me to download WinAnti virus Pro)

I think the above site is safe but if unsure please don't click on it.

I can't access my c: drive and there's things popping up everywhere. I'm running Webroot Spy sweeper as I write this, I hope it fixes it!

    Ahhh!

cheers! I'll try that as soon as this scan has finished.

Hmm, It's just threw me out of Outlook, and won't let me open any pics.

My first virus! Quite exciting really (unless my PC is permanantly damaged that is!)

I reckon it's from watching the three press conferences from E3 yesterday, it starting running slow as soon as I closed down the feed.

Can you amend your link so it doesnt link if you click it please - put a @@ or something at the front so if someone wants to visit a site that *might* not be safe they have to do it manually!

Not worried about me - i rebuild computers on a daily basis, but someone new who is visiting...

Steven , its always a good idea to check the major AV vendors for virus info ( Symantec / Sophos / NA etc. ) - you'll get a less "You can fix this only if you buy our software" response from them

    http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/ven....mytob@mm.html

I wonder what these alerts looked like ? what software was producing them ?

rightie stop using outlook or any email else you might spread it.

you could try a live CD, http://www.ubcd4win.com has anti-virus tools.

strange thing is, mytob normally dosen't caus problems like that, because its a spam bot, its not in its intrest to be found.

moral of the story don't run as administrator!

Seems like the main offender wasn't Mytob, just Worm/generic.IQ attached to outlook.exe, plus a billion trojans

Thankfully it should be sorted soon! Thanks for your help!
