is it just for one off use? I Imagine it might be easier to get it running on ipod linux, but thats just a guess
I want to use that application such that i can still access and play the songs/movies from the IPOD
If i install linux, i have to reboot my ipod if i have to listen to the songs and in the linux mode i wont have the access to the songs stored
No, because apple are a nice caring company and understand that if they allow people to augment the ipod its just a matter of time before the often electronically impared demographic shift to better offerings.
If you put ipod linux on the other hand you have a lot of freedom.
if its for a product idea, look at the windows media player portables, they are easer to deveolope for. A PDA or Smartphone running windows mobile is also VERY well supported. Apple, well its white n scratches easily thats about it.
as you want to access the songs, this is WAAAAY out. Apple don't like people going near their DRM

So, you mean that IPOD is very tight lipped(and thats why hacking is also not possible) about the OS and Firmware it uses and alows little or no scope for the 3rd party applications development on the IPOD.
I have one more question, Can Apple development kits for OSX be helpful in anyways?
Thank you once again.
nope the kit will be NO USE whatsoever, its very simple antitrust in my view (compared to say a browser with an OS).
They want people to be locked into itunes, buy music on itunes, get locked into ipods. Apple should realise that the ipod been most popular is probably just a zeitgeist (like the walkman was) so their long term plan is keep everyone stuck on the iPod.
As such developing the ipod isn't really possible without not using the apple firmware. Don't go near apple's drm.
Microsoft on the other hand don't care, as long as you can't easily port your code away from their os, they help you as much as they can to use their technologies.

if you see they (MS) are really trying hard to win people on the has lots of software and functions front.

That was a great link, Yeah, MS seems to be more promising and flexible.
Was a little curious,
what OS does Apple 30GB video use?
I have read about PIXO/OS X and was a little confused!!!!
Thank you
