    Vista Performance

I know its only Beta but I was wondering what kinda kit people are running it on.

    I've got it on an x64 3200
    2Gb RAM
    ATi 9200SE AGP Card
    80Gb HDD
    AV8 Board

Managed to get a shocking score of 1... lol..
Seems to take an age to boot and when I installed office 2003 it then refused to boot.

Looks nice thats about it, the added security stuff did my head in within about the 1st 20 seconds tho, couldnt delete printers and everything you want to click on to move/delete or whatever gave a popup...

Oh, and when you try and change your my docs location, good luck with that...

IIRC, I got 5 on mine (or was it 3?) - was a few days ago though and my memory's not what it once was .

    40gb HDD
    Nvidia 6800
    1GB RAM
    2600+ Athlon XP

Looking at what you lot go, it's probably more likley it was a 3. I might do it again soon and put up a definate score.

    i got a 3.

    opty 170 @ 2500
    2gb ram
    asrock 939dual
    7800gtx
ibm IDE hard drive (i think this is the weak link)

also, vista is reporting that the nvidia drivers and the uli ethernet drivers are causing slowdown, so until new drivers come out, its all beef jerky.

It's a work in progress - check out this MSDN blog with a 12-minute video on the current (RC1) test version.

Glass effects - easy way to tell, right click on the desktop and choose 'personalize' the dialog that pops up lets you control settings for all sorts of stuff, including glass - choose 'visual appearance'. In the next dialog is the 'enable transparent glass' tick box checked? If so, it's working (if not you can try turning it on, then reopen 'visual appearance' and see if the tick box is still checked - if not, windows has disabled glass because it doesn't think your hardware can support it [or drivers more likely in my experience]). Ok?
