Question Exchange/AD - forwarding only external emails

A client of mine wants to have a copy of all incoming external mails forwarded to him, but im not sure on how to do it.

I can enable the forwarding in Active Directory, but I believe that forwards all email sent to that user and he doesnt want internal emails.

Anyone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks

I dont think exchange looks at mail from an internal / external point of view - its down to the addres used ( X400 or SMTP ? )

However without 3rd party tools I dont think it can be done.

Moby's right - the mailbox object in Exchange 2000/2003 is unable to discern between mail based on where sent from. The only real way he'll be able to do this other than to setup another mailbox for external use would be to setup a rule forwarding all mail except from recipients on the Exchange GAL to a custom recipient, but that would be a faff and a half to maintain!

Not done this myself, but I wonder whether it would be possible to write an SMTP event sink to forward mail that isn't from a locally hosted domain to a single mailbox?

Edit: Of course, you could use something like GFI Mailarchiver (I use it here, and it's pretty good), just enabling incoming archiving?

You don't; you just create another user in AD with an Exchange mailbox as usual.
