    Surveillance software - any recommendations?

    Hi all...

I want to set up a web-cam style surveillance system and want to know what would be the best software to use?

    Can anyone recommend anything?

    Would like:
    24 Hour monitoring
    Periodic stills
    Motion detection (but not necessary)
    Website publishing or remote viewing

Free (or close to it) would be good.

    Thanks.
    Bill.

There are a few good free alternatives...

on eBay you can buy 4input composite cards with 1 audio and you get **free** software
which is infact pirated, but comes with motion detection and web viewing..

there is a very good (apparently) linux release called Zone Minder

    http://www.zoneminder.com

best thing to do is search on the net for it... there is also a shareware windows app luxtor i think...

    Thanks Dom...

    Any experience of Active Webcam?

Downloaded a free 30 day trial version - looks really impressive and does just about everything I want, but don't want to pay the ~ $80 for the full premium version.

i tried Active webcam as well, but found the motion detection was up to my job (as opposed to, the job)

I ended up using WebCam Monitor by Deskshare only problem is you can't change the video resolution, it's stuck pretty low
