How do I customize the start up of individual accounts?

I've made a gaming profile on Windows XP with loads of things disabled, simple visuals, etc etc. I want to disable a load of the start up apps, but if I do it via msconfig, it applies to my main account too, which I really don't want. There's nothing in the start up folder, its just main things like the nVidia panel, the X-Fi volume control, NOD32, etc.

Anyone able to lend a hand? Much thanks to any help

C:\Documents and Settings\(Your_user)\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

This will tell the system what to startup for the particular user

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

This will tell the sustem what to startup for ALL users.

You can disable some of the entries in the msconfig THEN add the required user-specific entries into the user's own Startup folder.

Thanks much for the help Arthur Unfortunately there's nothing in those folders, not mine, or all users as a whole. I would do the 2nd idea of using msconfig but I don't know where the shortcut for the rest of them are in the first place ;_;

In msconfig -> startup, you can see the "command" of each program. Just create a shortcut in the startup folder with that command.

The data is all stored in the registry so you can add them here as well:

Startup files for all acocunts
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\

Startup files for currently logged on user
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\

What you need to do is create a seperate hardware profile, hardware profiles allow you to have differnet startup, run options and services. So when you boot the machine up after you've created the new hardware profile it'll prompt you to pick a hardware profile to use. If you look at the System applet in Control Panel then select the Hardware tab, at the bottom is a button for Hardware Profiles - so go and have a play
