    Start > Run > Msconfig > startup

As for the multimedia audio controller does your card have VIVO capabilities etc?

If you have a standalone sound card and uninstalled the onboard sound drivers that would cause it. If you do, then you need to go into your BIOS and disable the onboard sound from there.

    ATI card?

    I got that....two things....

    dont blush...

change the DVI cable to the other plug hole on the video card! I had mine in port 2 by accident and that caused the pop up!

ALso.,.....as the guy up there says, if it has VIVO powers, (video in video out) you need the wdm drivers.

If it IS an ATI card, get Omega drivers and wdm driver

alright sorry to say... even after installing the stuff.. it now says "the device cannot start" so it still shows up at startup... is there a way to fix this

OR to just get it to stop showing up at startup

(also still looking on help for vnc to stop starting up)

start-run-services.msc and look for the VNC Server. It'll be under "V" if you order alphabetically Right click it and select properties, change the startup from Automatic to Manual. Reboot to confirm..

OR IIRC if you go into Programs > Real VNC there will be an "Unregister VNC Server Service" or something like it. Changing using services.msc is pretty much the same thing

Alternatively, uninstall VNC completely and install a newer version - http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/ is good if I remember right. When you install, don't say install the service...

New hardware - either try windows update, you sometimes get drivers for odd things through that...

Or go into Control Panel and double click "System" (or right click "My Computer" and select properties...), go to the Hardware tab and click Device Manager. Scroll down to the little yellow icon ! and either double click it and disable, or try update driver and try windows update. Maybe the device itsself in Device Manager can give you more of a clue what it is...

If you still don't know what it is, list out your system here, and we can check off each item having drivers installed...Try updating motherboard drivers, graphics card drivers, soundcard drivers...from the relevant homepage!

You don't have a USB sound card plugged in by mistake, I'm assuming!!
