The price of Microsoft Vista

Well all......I dont know about you but i'm thinking of switching to Mac's.

All depends on how much Vista is going to be?

I've heard one story that it might be £100. If so i dont mind paying that.

    What do you think?

It will be a staggered thing - no doubt students will pick it up for the usual 80/90 but others will be paying a lot more

I'll be due a new PC when Vista hits the shelves. Therefore I'll be hoping for a new Shuttle build or something similar with Vista included as part of the deal.

I want to get the ultimate edition but I will not spend more than £150. To me though Vista is an investment in terms of the amount of fun and productivity it will give me.

I thought the prices had been leaked? I'm fairly certain that the Ultimate was going to cost around £350. Prices staggered down from there depending on version. Why can't Microsoft just do what Apple does and release one version for £80? Or is that too simple?

I don't think there's enough in the basic edition to tempt me to upgrade and the ultimate edition will be too expensive. I'm certainly looking at the Mac alternatives, especially since the Xbox 360 fulfills 95% of my gaming needs these days.

Slightly OT here - what's the point of Vista apart from lining Microsoft's pockets? A fancy glossy interface, a sidebar and new search facilities and.... that's it?

new versions of windows are usually marginally cheaper than their predecessors (xp home versus me, xp pro versus 2k pro, me versus 98, etc)

I reall doubt microsoft will do that this round. At best they will price the basic at XP Home Prices and the ones ppl actually want to buy will be a fair amount above that

I guess we will just have to wait and see!
