ah just remembered another:
partitioning a 5GB space on my C: drive and installing XP into it. or so i thought. booted up to find I had put it onto the other 10GB drive in my system. over an hour of installing and tweaking only to format it straight away.

I have to do Portable Appliance testing now and again (testing stuff like kettles and cassette recorders for safety).
Trying to download the results from the tester and then use the Shire software was a nightmare. It took me no less than six hours to work it out. Crappiest piece of Software ever - Shire Safety First for Windows.
