    Win 98 + Linux help

I'm at work, on a Saturday (*groan*) and we have a customer in with 4 bootable OSs on his PC, 3 linux distros and a Windows 98 installation. The Windows 98 installation has screwed up, and I'm wondering about how to go about repairing it or reinstalling without loosing the other partitions.

Thanks for the help in advance!

first thing you need to do is make a note of where the linux boot partitions are - and what the boot loader configuration is.

Repairing the windows 98 partition will only be a problem if you have to re-write the windows 98 boot sector. In which case you will need to re-install the multiple os boot loader.

If this is hassle you can boot from a linux "live cd" and make a copy of boot sector using dd (man dd) or ask if you want the exact command. Write the boot sector onto a floppy - repair windows 98 - then boot from the live cd again and use dd to put the boot sector back from the floppy.
    It is Inevitable.....
