Installing Ubuntu (Dapper Drake) on Intel Core 2 Duo System...

Hi,

I've been checking around the Ubuntu forums and a couple issues with conroe systems and Dapper Drake have been confirmed here https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Core_2_Duo_Support

Due to this I'm in the process of downloading Breezy Badger (via torrent) AMD64, and will see if I have any luck. Has anyone else here had any sucess in installing Ubuntu (without net access?)

breezy is older, so is even *less* likely to work.

to be honest, the bug you linked is probably fine with a temporary bios change. i should be getting a core 2 duo system for work soon, and will be asking for dapper preinstalled.

I'm using the latest BIOS too (F3)... hrm....

pop into the bios, looks for some kind of legacy mode for the IDE controller.
