    turn off automatic reboots on error (ctrl panel/system/advanced/startup/automatically restart)

    it might be a driver issue

    When you get a BSOD, what STOP Code does it give?

    e.g. 0x00008E or something like

    Edit: and is there any reference in the BSOD to any files of any sort?

    You tried doing scandisk /F ?

    One of my machine had frequent BSOD and a simple scandisk fixed it.

    You mean chkdsk /f on an XP machine

    Hopefully we can get the STOP code and see what's broked.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    That's Windows' way of saying "something broked LOL!"

    I.e. that error code is probably the least specific one it could have spit out.

    I'd try chkdsk, along with downloading and running memtest86+.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    ...and if chkdsk don't play I'd start looking at drivers

    yeah i think it is a driver issue.but i haven't found any ! next to device manager. only ? but ive disabled them.i always seem to get 2 ?'s when i reformat on both machines and their hardware is different.i use OMEGA drivers as ATi's never seem to install smoothly and i prefer the tweaks from OMEGA.
    if the problem persists would you recommend a driver cleaner wipe of my current gfx card drivers (as nforce2 installed fine...) and put latest on again?

    ive got stock settings, no overclocking, all i've changed are time and date and some other things that aren't relevant such as power on by any key etc. i have a 30gb (think its the problem and b0rked possibly..) as master with a dvdrw as slave. then because i wanted to test it i have a 320gb ide and 2 320gb satas on a pci sata/ide card these are taken out of my main rig so i could use them in the meantime whilst my new motherboard is purchased for main rig in which i took them from.
