XP install hangs at 34 minutes

just rebuilt my pc instaleld a new xp on a hard disk i was jsut usin 4 data.

the hd corrupted lost lssass and could no longer boot.

so i thought i would repair my old xp installation

but its hanging at 34 minustes (hardware error)

think this may be an issue with my netgear wireless card as i left it for like an hr and then it asked if it can install its drivers.

Read about a similar issue recently on another forum (might even have been you hehe) that was caused by SP2. If he installed SP2 onto an existing install, it crashed, and likewise the install crashed if he tried from a slipstreamed CD.

Not sound advice to work without SP2 on XP, but to eliminate it from the potential causes, try an older pre-SP2 XP CD if you have one - pre-SP1 would perhaps be even better.

cheers but i am doing a repair of an xp installation.

the installation was done using an official xp sp2 (not slipstreamed) but on cd-r as it was from msdn student site. using a new copy of the disk which i had to re download as i lost it. dont thinko an xp disc can repair an xp install that was sp2 but i do have a xp pro no service pack disc could i use this to repair the installation.
