    OSS Emulation On Debian

I'm currently using Debian Etch, and you've probably guessed what I'm going to ask next from the title. In case you haven't: the programs that still use OSS for sound can be forced to use ALSA by:

    aoss iamanannoyingprogram

Is there any way to automatically force these programs to use ALSA i.e. when they try to use /dev/dsp (I think!), they actually end up using ALSA.

    Thanks

    Mike.

if you load the "snd-pcm-oss" module, then /dev/dsp becomes a fake redirect to ALSA. the problem is that it doesn't play nicely with ALSA's built-in audio mixing capability. if a given app can't be convinced otherwise, it's "aoss" to get them working directly with ALSA, i'm afraid

That's a bit of shame, but nevermind! Thanks for the help.
