I think you just broke the interweb in Alyesbury :P
This is scary :(
I cant get either of my PC's to Update.....
I cant work out how to take a screen shot for ya to see....tried print Screen and then saved it as a NT Clp file and then a 3.1 Clp file but I only have Paint Shop pro to convert it with and it says bad DIb file or some old pants like that.
Getting mad now.....been at this for hours :(
any chance that my ISP shows up as a bad show to Microsoft.
I have updated my mates PC on my Broad bean on Sunday, but as with all NTL cable stuff I had to get his PC a seperate kind of account thingy......with my PID number etc. but it was ok. sameith this one. surely my ip address isnt the problem?
Must be coincidence...have had 3 different acounts on it before.
How about print screen and then paste into Paint Shop Pro?Quote:

If you're getting a error from the windows update site itself try checking your time and date. If it's miles out the update process fails
time and date is fine..but thanks matey..good thought :)
update......halfway through 3dmark 2001 SE for the first time, it crashed back to Windows desktop :grr: and there was the poxy "Your Updates are ready to download now" message.
If I ever meet Bill Gates, I'm gonna shake him by the .....
THROAT
;)
Cheers dudes..dunno which one of you waved a magic wand, but it worked ;)
Zak do you use broadband? if so it could be something funny going on there- I just had the same problem, it wouldn't load up for AGES!! then it came back saying something like 'you version of windows is cr*p'...or similar...
head on over to google, do a search for 'DRTCP' and download the latest version, install it and enter your MTU number...it could be different from mine but you could try entering 1458
-if it doesn't work get hold of your service provider...hope that helps, it fixed me up nicely...
thats get hold of provider for MTU...
thanks Shiato.....top bloke :)

The deafening sound of silence.......
Zakky-poos....have you been making illegal copies of software again? ;) :D
nah..its OK.....
its all legit versions.....BUT.....what scared me was the IP address on my PC.
Cos I use it update other peoples PC's.....relog on to Broadbandfor their PC, update, then plugmine back in.
Wondered if Bill was getting arsey about me having 3 different PC's updated on on IP address in under a week.
Seems OK now tho :)
That shuoldn't be the case - eg. one of my clients has 30 machines behind one firewall , so it see's plenty of windows update Activity from their IP :)
shouldn't you really use SUS for that Moby?
Using windows update.log in your system folder is always a good place to start if debugging it. At work we had some machiens installed from XP original disk then updated later to SP1, and updating was broken with no explicatble reason given (is connecting to our local SUS server by the way - which to client point of view is same as connecting to windowsupdate.com). With the slipstreamed install disk it worked fine - exact same config otherwise.
I have ntl 700k Broadband (should be 600, but i manage to get 700 out of it :)) and i have NEVER had a problem with them or Windows Update... perhaps your firewall is stopping you installing the latest windows update software? Or another point would be to see if you have disabled auto updates in services..
A final thing is that Mcafee Antivirus and Firewall's Winsock sh** settings interfered with my NTL and Windows Update. If u have Mcafee, uninstall and ensure u have a copy of Norton 2004 or Panda Antivirus ready as backup.(Panda isnt very good)
