    Non hackable Comapq nc4400???

    Here's the problem:
I've got Comapq nc4400 laptop for use and I'm merely an limited user on it and of course I want to hack into it and be administrator. But the problem is that this comp has some kind of extra security so I cant boot any of those administrator password changing utilities like hirens boot cd or any live linux whit which i could get SAM file...
I think this model of HP is specific because it has finger reader.
Oh, and just that you wouldn't think I've stole it; my company gave it to me but I want to use it for entertainment too, and without admin rights i cant install any game whatsoever...
    help?

Your company probably has a policy about this for a reason. You may be leaving yourself open to some serious disciplinary action if you continue and, certainly where I live (UK), forcibly gaining access to a computer is viewed as a crime.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but what you have stated above means you intend to use a company laptop for something the company don't wat you doing? Which at worst could leave you hunting for another job?

I know most London firms (especially the likes of Citi Bank) are pretty hot on security - hence making people limited users, and as such restricting (for perhaps good reason) what a user can do. Although I am sympathetic to what you want to do, I would suggest it is really not worth it, and may carry a heavier penalty than you seem to recognise.

I may be utterly wrong in this, but wouldn't it also be viewed as a breach of the Computer Misuse Act, and therefore have legal ramifications?

well, altrough you ppl are right about hacking the codes, in my county/firm the sistem isn't quite so strict. The worst thing that could happen to me would be a warning not to do it again. and BTW, who can know that I have changed admin password if no one gets right to work on my laptop except me?

so please, concentrate on hacking this pain in the a*s...

If you were given a laptop with a fingerprint reader, they probably want to keep it pretty secure. If you compromise this security and expose classified information(yes anything your company wants protected counts as classified, it's not just used in bond movies). You could and probably would be fired for neglicgence and breaching your terms of employment. You could also be arrested.

In short, buy your own laptop. This machine was made this secure for a reason.

Other option is buy a replacement hard drive for it (it may have a removeable caddy) and install your own OS on it. Then you can use it as a work machine for work, with work hard drive, and a private machine with your HD. How your company would view this, I can't say.

Actually on second thoughts, I dont think I'm happy helping out for this kind of thing.

    HEXUS isn't a "how to hax0r" forum.
